Panelsan, a manufacturer of sandwich panels, EPS and injection-moulded products, is preparing for new investments. Having purchased an additional 81,000 square metres of land, the company has taken steps to expand its production facilities. Panelsan Sales Manager Cüneyt Boydaş said the company achieved revenue of TRY 1 billion and 70 thousand in the first half of the year, including TRY 38.2 million in overseas sales. Explaining that the company exports to more than 30 countries in Asia, Europe and Africa, Boydaş said: ‘We identify Eastern Europe, the Middle East, the South Caucasus and North Africa as our main export regions.’ The company is working on promising investment and expansion plans. ‘We purchased an 81,000-square-metre plot adjoining our facility in Polatlı Organised Industrial Zone to increase our business volume and profitability,’ he explained. Investment in Kazakhstan: The company currently employs 180 people. Boydaş noted that investments in stone wool and polyurethane sandwich panel lines and additional machinery would strengthen the company, with domestic and international sales growth planned alongside capacity increases. In addition to investments in Türkiye, the company is working on a new factory construction project in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Boydaş said that a memorandum of understanding was signed with Kazakhstan's sovereign wealth fund in 2022. He added that Panelsan had accelerated R&D activities, launched a new wall product called Diamond and was preparing further new products. He also noted that the company's sustainability report was published that year. Recalling Türkiye's 2053 net-zero emissions target, Boydaş emphasised the need for products that contribute to energy efficiency, the importance of corporate and individual demand, and support such as thermal insulation packages. The importance of panels became clear after the earthquake: Boydaş said all capacity was directed to the affected region to meet shelter needs, highlighting the advantages of sandwich panels in a crisis. ‘Following the February 2023 earthquake, we directed all our production to the earthquake regions out of our sense of responsibility to our country. This reduced the volume of products available for export, so export revenue was lower than in the previous period,’ he said.
Investments Will Support Sustainability Activities
Cüneyt Boydaş emphasised that new investments would enable further progress in building design and energy efficiency: ‘By focusing our technological investments on stone wool panel production, we aim to respond to the sector's needs. Stone wool panels offer distinctive advantages such as high thermal insulation and fire resistance. To use this product more effectively, however, we are working on new panel details and more advanced technologies. Our aim is to design buildings that are both more attractive and more functional, while also minimising the carbon footprint of these innovative products. With our innovative, sustainable products, we aim to do more than supply materials to construction: we also want to help the sector build safer, more efficient buildings. Through these strategic investments and expansion plans, we are targeting sustainable growth and global leadership alongside improvements in product and service quality.’
